II Corinthians 7:16

Whom have you known long enough to have acquired an unshakable confidence in them?  What do you suppose is in John Stockton’s mind when he passes the ball toward Karl Malone in the middle of a pick and roll?  Complete confidence!  Do you have that kind of confidence in your teammates?  Why is that so?

In Paul’s second letter to the church at Corinth at chapter 7 and verse 16 he writes, “I am glad I can have complete confidence in you.”  How rich would it be to have your friend and mentor to say that of you?

There is a confidence that comes from knowing people in their good times and in their bad times.  We gain confidence in our teammates when we see them perform well under pressure.  We grow in trusting our coaches when they make good decisions at trying times.  We also gain confidence in our God when He comes through for us in times of great sorrow and confusion.

Your coaches have grown in their confidence in you, individually and as a group.  That makes them glad, seeing you like daughters and sons who are maturing and growing into outstanding young people.  They are glad they can have complete confidence in you, on and off the field of competition.  Have your best game of the season today. I have complete confidence that you will.
